Week 5 Term 1

On Entry Testing: Mrs Leahy began the PP On Entry Testing last week and will continue on Monday and Tuesday this week. We have Miss Povey in again to take the class. The testing is a time consuming process where each child is tested on literacy and numeracy skills while in a one on one situation with the teacher.  These tests provide us with extremely valuable information on each child. Hopefully it won't take too much longer. Literacy: This fortnight we are learning the H E R M D C set of letters. Please practise these at home using the letter cards sent home at the parent information meeting (or other letters you may have). If you have any questions or need any suggestions regarding the letters or sounds don't hesitate to come and see us. Keep practising the S A T P I N letter sounds as well. Numeracy: We are focusing on the numbers 3 and 4 this fortnight during numeracy. We will look at what the numbers look like as a numeral, word, dot pattern, tally and

It's been a big few weeks in Pre Primary! (plus Assembly information)

Dear Parents, Thank you to all those parents who have offered to come in on roster,  your children absolutely love having you in the classroom and  we can always use an extra pair of hands! Just a reminder that we have our first assembly for 2017  this Friday which begins at 8.50am.  Please try to be on time for an 8.30am start on Fridays  so that the children can join in 'Fine Motor Friday' activities then we will line up as a class at 8.45am  and make our way to the Hall.  Parents and siblings are welcome to attend all assemblies. Birthday certificates will be presented along with other important messages.  Each class presents a prayer assembly and  a performance assembly during the year.  Our class Performance Assembly is on Friday 23rd June (Term 2)  and our class Prayer Assembly is on Friday 3rd November (Term 4).  Here is a snapshot of what we've been doing.....  as you can see it's been a busy, fun filled few weeks.

Week 2 Term 1

Thank you to everyone for attending the Pre-Primary parent information session. If you were unable to attend you may pick up the pack that was handed out from your classroom teachers. It has been a very big transition to big school for our little people. There are a lot of very tired kids. Unfortunately they may be extra grumpy for you. It takes a lot of energy to listen, concentrate, learn and behave appropriately all day so kids tend to 'let it all out' when they get home. Some kids really need that 'release'. Try and have some easy relaxing afternoons and give them lots of love and cuddles. Sound focus Each fortnight I will write on the blog what sounds we are learning for the fortnight. At home you can play some games like 'I Spy', 'Find that letter', 'Letter Muncher' etc and also use the sounds cards from your pack to practise saying the sounds and recognising the symbol that makes that sound. This fortnight we are leaning: s, a, t, p,
WELCOME TO PRE PRIMARY (PPL) 2017! What a fun filled first week we have had in PPL! Our first day began with meeting Mrs Leahy and Mrs Martin  who will be our teachers for the year ahead.  Mrs Leahy works on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and  Mrs Martin works on Thursdays and Fridays.  We also met our Education Assistants: Ms Kent, Mrs Peacock and Mrs Beatty. We have toured the school, learnt new routines, played with our new friends,  created masterpieces and even learnt about capital letters!  You should all be so very proud of your little person for tackling all these new challenges with enthusiasm, grace and a big smile on their face! Well done kids! It's been a BIG week in PPL! Please remember to come along to our PARENT INFORMATION MEETING:  3.15pm- 4.15pm on Tuesday 7th February in the OLC hall where you will meet the Pre Primary teaching team and gain some valuable insights as to what the year ahead will involve. We understand that the be
