Week 3

Prac Student We welcomed prac student Kailla Erickson into our class at the beginning of last week. She is completing her second year practical component of her teaching degree with us over 4 weeks. Please make her feel welcome. Home Reading Help It is tricky to know when to help your child with a word and when not to. Some words contain sounds that we have not yet been exposed to and this makes it very difficult to sound out. So far we have looked at all of the individual sounds each letter makes and have practised blending and segmenting them. We have also looked at the 'sh' as in shut, 'ch' at in chat, 'th' as in thin, 'th' as in that. Some of us have looked at the 'ee' as in sheep, 'oo' as in moon, 'oo' as in book, 'ck' as in kick and 'qu' as in quick. Week 1 Term 4

Welcome back to Term 4!! This term, as with all of the others, will be very busy and will go very fast!! Please try to remember where all our beautiful Pre primaries started at the beginning of the year and give them lots of praise as you notice just how far they have come. They are still so young and have achieved so much - their success should be celebrated!!! We still need help in our morning sessions so if you are able to assist please fill in a day on our parent roster. Home readers Our home reading folders will come home today so we can get straight into practising our reading. Remember to bring them in on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the books to be changed. Please remember to record each book as it is read so we know it is to be changed. Sight Words Sight words will also still be coming home to practise reading and writing.
