Term 2 Week 10

Hi Everyone, The last week!!! I don't know about you but I am definitely looking forward to a break and thankfully the holidays are just around the corner. Our term has been very productive and we should all be very proud of what our kids have achieved. They are reading and writing!!!! Mud Day - Wednesday Depending on the weather we will be having a 'Mud Day' this Wednesday (1st July). During Science this term we have been looking at getting dirty and getting clean. To conclude our program we will have a morning of mud play where we have activities planned that will extend your child's thinking and allow them to have lots of fun. Your child will need to come to school dressed in some old clothes with some old shoes or rubber boots. Please bring a clean, dry outfit o change into if need be and a towel. We expect that they will thoroughly enjoy getting muddy!! Reading Folder As mentioned in last weeks blog, each child needs a reading folder ready for next term. Th

Term 2 Week 9

Hi Parents, Only a couple of weeks to go until we can have a well earned rest. Everyone looks like they are starting to feel tired and are getting a little sensitive. We have been very busy and are doing so much amazing learning so you should be very proud of your beautiful children. Merit Awards Last weeks award winners were Isla Reagan and Daniel Fogarty. Well done to both of you!! When reading we have to be very careful not to 'guess' what the word says. Guessing does not help us to read, using the letters that are there and identifying their sound does. In writing it means listening carefully to the sounds we can hear in a word, recalling the letter that makes that sound and writing it down usi

Term 2 Week 7

Hi Everyone, I hope you enjoyed your weekend with the weather fining up perfectly on Sunday afternoon. A big congratulations to Angus Jeffrey and Birdie Opie on their merit awards last week. Literacy Last week we began our differentiated teaching groups.  The children are grouped according to their like needs - across the two pre primary classes.  This means that Mrs Birch may teach your child and that I will teach some PPB students. We work it over a two week rotation system so that each child is regularly in their home room. Mrs Birch and I meet each week to exchange our observations and assessments for all children. These teacher meetings allow us also to analyse student achievement and regroup the children for the next fortnight's learning cycle. It works brilliantly! Some children will be working on mastering blending two sounds while others are ready for blending and segmenting 3 sounds using CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words. eg: cat, bug, dog. Activities include
