Week 9 Term 1

Good Morning everyone, I hope you are all surviving your 'home schooling' experience so far!!! Thank you for all of the efforts you are putting in to help your child continue to learn at home. Please don't stress if things don't happen or if you just need to slow down and take some time out. Do what works for you family. Please find following the main learning focus for Week 9 of T erm 1. If you need any assistance please send us an email, we are happy to help in any way we can.  Literacy Remember our children need to; recognise the alphabet symbols.  say the sound of the letter correctly.  Be mindful of how the sound is made. (What position are the lips, tongue and mouth as they say the sound.  Is it an air sound or a voice box sound?) hear the sound at the beginning of words. ( and in the middle and end of words as they show readiness) use correct letter formation and a good pencil grip when writing letters.  Your daily routine should include; A

Home Learning - General Information

Dear Parents, After  announcements by the Western Australian government, it appears that Home Schooling will no longer be a choice but rather a necessity. We know that this fact will bring concern to many parents as they juggle their daily commitments and try to factor in a regular session of home schooling to their day.     We also understand that you will be having to share your time and efforts with other family members too. Sadly, we are fully aware that some families will also have the added pressures of loss of employment and financial insecurity to deal with.   We would like to reassure you that we will work to support your efforts for as long as this unpredictable and stressful time continues and are presently working towards a firm plan of attack for us all to follow in the coming months. We will remain contactable and ready to answer your questions and support you and your child in any way that we can. We are sending home basic work packages to complete for the rest

Week 8 Information Term 1

Dear Parents, At the time of writing this blog there has been no decision to close schools in WA. We must therefore continue to be vigilant in order to ensure the safety of our children, their families and our teachers. This week there will be  no gathering time . Parents please do not enter the classroom. Please kiss and drop at the door. A teacher will be on duty from 8.30 as per usual. If your child, or any member of your family are showing signs of being unwell then please, please for the safety of all, keep your child at home.  Obviously the same applies if you have been in contact with anyone who has been travelling or exposed to Covid 19. I know that many parents are torn as to whether to keep their child at home or send them to school. Please let us resassure you that we will send out key learning to be covered each day (week) and that once all this is over we will assess your child and differentiate to meet their learning needs. All staff are working to keep high standa

Week 7 Updates

Dear Parents, I have been unwell so have had a few days off work this week. Rest assured it is not the Coronavirus. Today we are sending home a Learning Support Pack.  It contains some mathematics work booklets. These have been put together by Mrs Birch and I to support the very important early learning that is taking place in the classroom right now.  We realise that as this horrible Corona Virus spreads it is likely that more and more children will be kept home and so we would like to be one step ahead in supporting parents with their child's learning. As of Monday 23rd March we will put more detailed learning information on the Blog for the days and weeks ahead. Numeracy Booklets. Please complete the 1 - 10 booklet first.  The teen number booklet second. Don't allow your child to rush ahead unsupervised. Please work with your child when they are completing the booklets. Reading Eggs and Mathletics. A Reading Eggs and Mathletics log in card is in the pack comin

Week 6

Hi Everyone, Family Photos/Religion We are giving thanks for our wonderful families during our religion unit at the moment. If you haven't sent in a family photo yet could you please send one in ASAP. If you send via email I can print it out. kristie.leahy@cewa.edu.au Gathering time It is so lovely seeing everyone enjoying our gathering time and engaging with their child over a game or activity. It does become very loud in our room though so please be mindful of this. The children are into the pack up routine now so it would help if parents could begin their exit while the pack up song is on or before the pack up song while your child is occupied with an activity. A quick getaway is always best with a kiss, a hug and then out the door. If you need any help please see Letitia, Lisa or myself. Rest assured that your child is calm and happy as soon as you are gone. We will contact you if there are any lingering issues. English Our focus letters for this week are o, c and d.

Week 5

Hi Everyone, It was so nice to have a long weekend!! I hope you all enjoyed your extra day. English This week we are focusing on the letter sounds for 'f' and 'r'. You were all given a set of letters with your Pre Primary information from the Parent information night. It would be great if you could all dig them out, cut them up and play some recognition games with your child. Just using them as flash cards where your child needs to quickly identify the sound the letter makes would be an awesome start. The more they see the letter and say its sound the quicker they will be able to recall the sound. This will only benefit them when they are beginning to read and write. Numeracy This week we are looking at the numbers 9 and 10: how they are formed as well as how to represent them. We are also using 'ten frames' to represent particular numbers. For a simple explanation of a 'ten frame' you can watch the following video. Thanks Kristie
