A final few reminders!!

Dear Parents, Thank you so much for dressing up your children and assisting us with Multicultural day last week. We had so much fun! We learnt about Germany with Oliver's friend Vee, we discovered Scotland and made thistles with Tristan's Dad and Pa, made fresh Italian pasta with Lyla's mum and made Japanese fans with Evelyn and James' mum. We also tasted Sri Lankan curry, made African neck decorations, played Spanish instruments, learnt about Mexico and made Japanese sushi. It was a fabulous morning that's for sure. Thank you so much to all our parent (and grandparent) helpers! Attached are some pictures from the day. Please remember that it is $2 ICECREAM WEDNESDAY (organised by the P&F) and our CHRISTMAS CONCERT tomorrow afternoon at 5.30pm.  The children need to be lined up in their class groups on the lawn outside the hall with their class teacher at 5.20pm so that we can enter the hall and begin at 5.30pm.  Please dress your child in Christmas col

A few reminders for our final week.

The Christmas play and awards evening The Christmas Play and Awards Evening will be held next Wednesday the 6th of December at  5.30 pm.  Please bring your child to the lawn area outside of the hall by 5.15 pm.  They will need to line up there and wait to walk in as a class group. They do not sit with parents.    The children are to wear Christmas colours.  Please make sure that your child has eaten, had a drink and been to the toilet before they enter the hall.  The Pre primary children do not receive awards.  Instead they will each receive a small book to recognise the amazing effort that each and everyone of them have put into their first formal year of schooling.   The session should not take longer than an hour and a half.  St Vinnies Box   Please bring in something for our St Vinnies box as soon as you can.  This is such a good cause.  Final day A reminder that the Pres do not go to the beach next Friday with the older children.  Instead we will have a fun day here at

Multicultural Morning

Dear Parents, This term we have been looking at cultures other than our own.  The children have shown a lot of interest in 'The World' and we feel this is important to follow up on their inquiry as there are very few cultures other than "Aussie" represented here at OLC.  As we all know this is not the case in larger towns and cities any more and our children need to be aware of and tolerant to traditions and customs other that the ones we have here in our little town of Dunsborough. On Thursday the 30th of November between 9am and 11am we will have a special "Around the World Day" with the other Pre Primary class (PPB).    For this occasion we would like to set up a number of 15 minute activities that will give the children a glimpse into other cultures.  We have already secured a spot for Spanish castanet playing and a Spanish Dance presentation.  We would love some parent volunteers to share their knowledge of another country with us.  Art

Chinese Restaurant Visit

Dear Parents, On Thursday the 2 nd of November all Pre primary students will travel by bus to the Dunsborough Chinese restaurant for lunch. After lunch we will go on to Simmo’s Icecreamery for a Gelato.  This excursion will support our learning this term.  We will leave at 11.15am and return to school at roughly 1.30pm. If your child has food allergies or is unlikely to eat Chinese then please pack a lunch for them. (Every child had Chinese last year and loved it. ) Four only parent helpers will be required from each classroom.  Please see your classroom teachers if you are able to assist. Kind regards, Pre primary Teachers.

Last day!!! One Term to go!!!

Thank you everyone for a wonderful term. The children have moved along in leaps and bounds!! Enjoy a well earned rest over the holidays!! Unfortunately we were unable to plant the trees today as the weather was too wild and wooly. Olden Days Day What an awesome day we had on Wednesday!! The children were fabulously engaged in every 'olden days' activity. The activities for the day included making butter, cooking damper, finger knitting a bracelet, sewing a bookmark, creating a doll using a wooden spoon, playing hopscotch and marbles as well as knuckle bones, pick up sticks and listening to stories from a long time ago. Here are some photos of the day. Thank you  Kristie and Alison

Sports carnival, Olden Days day, Outdoor Classroom Day

Sports Carnival Just a reminder that the OLC Sports Carnival is tomorrow. The PP's can wear their coloured faction top and either their tracksuit pants or shorts - whatever they are comfortable in. Olden Days Day Earlier this term we told you that we were to have an Olden Days Dress Up Day at the end of this term.  It will next Wednesday the 20th of September. Please dress your child in a costume from 'yesteryear'.  The costume can be from any era. As you dress your child please talk to them about what they are wearing so that they can share this information with their classmates. eg.  Braces are for holding up your 'trousers'.  Caps are for keeping your head warm.  Bonnets are for keeping the sun off your head and face.  Girls wore lace up boots to keep their feet dry in the olden days.  Ladies wore gloves to protect their skin from the sun...or to look elegant. Ladies put their long hair up in buns as that was the fashion.  Ladies wore long skirts as some
