Weeks of wonderful learning!!!

WOW!! There has been so much wonderful learning happening in PPL over the past few weeks!! We have been soooo busy!!
We are in the middle of assembly practice ready for our performance on Friday 23rd June. Everyone will receive a note regarding the dress requirements for our assembly. If you don't get a note by the end of this week please come and see Kristie or Alison.

Writing
We are absolutely amazed at the effort our Pre-Primaries have been putting in to their writing. Some kids are trying out spaces between words, using a capital letter at the beginning and finishing with a fullstop. Awesome work!!!
During gathering time please remember to encourage your children to 'have-a-go' at writing.  It is OK to make mistakes. The most important thing now is to listen for sounds and write down the sounds you can hear.
Next term we will learn some sight words and they will need to be correct in our writing.  As we learn more about phonics our spelling requirements will increase.
Please make sure that you have done the Writing Journal with your child at least once a week during Gathering Time.

Reading

Some children are showing readiness for reading. We will begin to test children and give them a reading book next term as they show readiness and confidence.  We will equip you with some background reading at that stage.

Fairy Tale Dress Up Day.

This will be held in week 10.  We are just finalising the day and we will let you know ASAP.
Remember no super heroes... and preferably no Elsa's.  Lets get creative... but keep it simple.  A pair of shorts and a t shirt along with a cap and some donkey ears would make a great Pinocchio.

Don't forget.........
School disco: Friday 23rd from 4.30-6pm. Parents are required to stay at the disco for this age group.

OLC Grandparents Day: Tuesday 27th from 9-11am. The office would like to know numbers so please make sure you return your attendance note.

Week 2 Term 3

Dear Parents, Well here we go! Term Four.   I hope that you have all had happy and restful holidays.  My kids and I went to Shark Bay for the first week with my mum and dad. It was great to get out of Dunsborough and was a fun road trip. Not sure my Dad will choose to sit in the back with the kids ever again though!!! We welcome Fraya and her family to PPB this term. There will be a strong emphasis on reading and writing this term in order to prepare your children for the rigour of Year One.  Some ways that you can support your child with their learning are: Listen to your child read EVERY night. Complete the homework reading sheets that are sent home each week.  Practise 'Tricky Words'.  Read them. Write them.  If your child is reversing letters and numerals then model the correct formation for them. Use the printing chart we sent home earlier this year.   Follow up on recommendations from any speech or OT reports. Don't forget to share any further reports you get with me

Welcome to PPT 2024

Dear Parents,  On behalf of the Pre Primary Turner teaching team I would like to extend a warm welcome to the PPT Teal students and families of 2024! The beginning of a new year is always exciting, not only for the students but for the teachers too.  Pre Primary, also known as the Foundation Year, is a very important year in your child's educational journey.   This year they will learn the essential early skills of reading and writing. They will also be introduced to and learn to recognise and understand our base ten counting system. Learning will also include music, dance, HASS, Technology, Science, Kimochis and our Keeping Safe programme. Our first term focuses on learning routines, expected behaviours and getting used to our learning and play spaces. As with last year, both PP classes are sharing a learning space while our new classrooms are being created and will be working closely throughout the year.   It can be a little noisy with 2 classes in the one space so plea

Week 6 Term 4

Dear Parents,  Preparation for Year 1 In order to prepare the children for Year 1 we would like parents to allow your child to become more independent in their school day. We ask that you begin these things this week until the end of term: allow your child to place their own water bottle and reading folders in the correct places allow them to find and complete their own Tricky Word find booklet allow them to carry their own bag to and from the classroom kiss and drop at the door (this will also decrease the noise level in the mornings and allow your child to complete the tricky words independently) A reminder of the Dance concert this Friday:  Junior Primary Dance Concert Details: When: Friday, 17th November (Week 6) Time: 2.00pm start (roughly a 45-minute show) Where: Hall The theme for the show is Animals!
