Week 2 Term 3

Dear Parents,

Well here we go! Term Four.

I hope that you have all had happy and restful holidays. My kids and I went to Shark Bay for the first week with my mum and dad. It was great to get out of Dunsborough and was a fun road trip. Not sure my Dad will choose to sit in the back with the kids ever again though!!!

We welcome Fraya and her family to PPB this term.

There will be a strong emphasis on reading and writing this term in order to prepare your children for the rigour of Year One.

Some ways that you can support your child with their learning are:

Listen to your child read EVERY night.
Complete the homework reading sheets that are sent home each week.
Practise 'Tricky Words'. Read them. Write them.
If your child is reversing letters and numerals then model the correct formation for them. Use the printing chart we sent home earlier this year.
Follow up on recommendations from any speech or OT reports. Don't forget to share any further reports you get with me so that I can add them to school files. Teachers have great respect for the expertise of specialists and like to use their recommendations to ensure that there is a connection between home and school activities.
If your child has had multiple winter colds then please have their hearing checked.
If they are squinting or having difficulty tracking when reading then please have their eyesight checked.
Aim for a 100% attendance rate.
Aim for an early bedtime every night.
Tell your child how amazing they are!! Confident children shine. 😃

Spot it! Read it! Write it! Tricky words

The children are loving finding their tricky words each morning and writing them down. It is a great way to revise the recognition and reading of these words. In term four we expect the children to be able to write their tricky words too.

News Roster

We will have a focus on the Dunsborough area in our news telling this term. If you can lead your child towards an object, event or place from the area to tell for news rather than a toy.

Inquiry

This term our integrated inquiry topic will centre around our lovely town of Dunsborough and how we can care for our local environment.

School Photos

A form was sent home this week. In order to receive a school photo you must get online to place your order now. If you can't find your form please see Mrs Marrell in the office.

On school photo day your child will need to wear their full school uniform.

Out to the Classroom

I will be out of the classroom from Monday 30th for 2 weeks. Sadly I think my netball career is finally over....I completely ruptured the ACL in my knee (among other things) and am due to have a knee reconstruction. Hopefully I am only out for 2 weeks and will be back, however just a little less mobile.

Calendar Art Fundraiser

Following is the art the children produced for the Calendar Art Fundraiser. The children created a collage of their family. If your child was absent for this activity they won't have an art piece.
