Week 4 Term 4

 Dear Parents,

A huge thank you for the amazing teacher love!! World Teachers Day felt very much like my birthday!!  I love teaching all of your beautiful children and I appreciate their amazing parents!!!

The P&F put on a lovely morning tea for all of the teachers and this too was greatly appreciated.

Spot it. Read it. Write It - Tricky Words

The morning Spot it, read it, write programme is proving to be very effective,  popular... and noisy.....  In order to curb the noise we are encouraging parents to let their children do this independently now that they know what they are doing.

Well done to those parents who are now dropping and kissing.  You are helping your children to build resilience and setting your children up for success next year.

Don't forget to keep practising those pesky Tricky Words at home too.

Grandparents Day

We would love the children to bring in their grandparents on this Friday for Grandparents Day.  There will be an assembly in the hall at 9am followed by some time for children to show their grandparents their classroom and then time for the children to spend with their grandparent during morning tea. If your child's grandparent is coming in please pack a little extra morning tea so your child can share with their special other.

Inquiry Learning

Our HASS topic this term is... Where do we live?  How do we look after the place where we live?

On the first day of our inquiry we used a Talking Tub.  In the tub were items that were strategically placed in order to stimulate conversation. These items were things from the local area.

This has led us to looking into our Totem animal, 'The Brushtail Possum' and plant 'The Peppermint Tree'.

The learning from this unit of work so far has been fabulous.  The children are so interested and keen to find out more. Over the next few weeks we will link our learning to the way the Wardandi Noonga people looked after this land.

Welcome to PPT 2024

Dear Parents,  On behalf of the Pre Primary Turner teaching team I would like to extend a warm welcome to the PPT Teal students and families of 2024! The beginning of a new year is always exciting, not only for the students but for the teachers too.  Pre Primary, also known as the Foundation Year, is a very important year in your child's educational journey.   This year they will learn the essential early skills of reading and writing. They will also be introduced to and learn to recognise and understand our base ten counting system. Learning will also include music, dance, HASS, Technology, Science, Kimochis and our Keeping Safe programme. Our first term focuses on learning routines, expected behaviours and getting used to our learning and play spaces. As with last year, both PP classes are sharing a learning space while our new classrooms are being created and will be working closely throughout the year.   It can be a little noisy with 2 classes in the one space so plea

Week 2 Term 3

Dear Parents, Well here we go! Term Four.   I hope that you have all had happy and restful holidays.  My kids and I went to Shark Bay for the first week with my mum and dad. It was great to get out of Dunsborough and was a fun road trip. Not sure my Dad will choose to sit in the back with the kids ever again though!!! We welcome Fraya and her family to PPB this term. There will be a strong emphasis on reading and writing this term in order to prepare your children for the rigour of Year One.  Some ways that you can support your child with their learning are: Listen to your child read EVERY night. Complete the homework reading sheets that are sent home each week.  Practise 'Tricky Words'.  Read them. Write them.  If your child is reversing letters and numerals then model the correct formation for them. Use the printing chart we sent home earlier this year.   Follow up on recommendations from any speech or OT reports. Don't forget to share any further reports you get with me

Week 1 Term 2

Hi Everyone, I hope you have had an amazing break. We couldn't have asked for better weather. My kids and I had a week at Hamelin Bay with some friends and some family time celebrating my dad's 75th birthday. It all went too quick but we really appreciated the break.  This term I will be taking each Friday as long service leave and will be replaced by Chelsea Torrese. Chelsea met our class last term while doing a few relief days so the kids are familiar with her.  New telling begins this term - Speaking and Listening Each student has the opportunity to tell news once a fortnight. Please see the following roster or use this link to open the file.  News Roster term 2 Please remember to bring hats back to school tomorrow. Mrs Sweeny is away for a couple of days but will back very soon. We also welcome back Mrs Hegney after her amazing time away in Spain. I look forward to seeing everyone again tomorrow. Thanks Kristie Turner
