Week 3 Term 1

 Hi Parents and Care givers,

Thanks for another awesome week. The kids have adapted really well to their new environment. Hopefully in the new few weeks we will have access to the new Kindy playground for a new and exciting area to play in.

You may find your child is coming home exhausted. This is understandable. They are engaged in activities all day and are attending 5 days a week now. This is really tiring for them. We have begun our English and Math learning lessons but are still keeping our afternoons free for less cognitively taxing activities and some free play time.

Parent Information Night

Thanks to the parents that attended the information evening. For those that couldn't make it the following link to the power point we shared on the night. We also sent home a pack to each family with some further information. Included was the Seesaw invite - please accept so you can see what your child has been up to in the coming weeks. You are welcome to share it with other family members so they can see how clever they are too.

Please also complete and return the parent survey. The information we gather is very helpful to us.

PP Parent night Information

Gathering time

We would like your child to practise writing their name every morning during gathering time. Each has a wipe off sheet with names to trace and then a line to practise on their own. If you are assisting your child please make sure they are writing the letters correctly. It is important that you direct them to use the correct letter formation. The children have all created their own way of writing letters and now we need to help them practise the correct way.

Separation anxiety - Gathering time is a good time to engage with your child by doing one or two activities together. Make your child the focus and clearly tell them that you will be leaving once your 2 activities are completed. Be clear with what you are going to do and stick to it. Try not to negotiate with your child. The teachers and EA's are there to help you exit, just let us know.

Sport time change

Our sport lesson is on a Wednesday from 12-1pm instead of later in the day. This will suit our little ones heaps better.

Character Strength

Parents, this week we are looking at developing the character strength of Bravery. St Oscar Romero is someone who when challenged with the decision between what was popular and what was right, chose to stand up for thousands of persecuted people, even at the risk of his own life. Do you speak up for what’s right? Do you embrace fear? Do you enjoy challenges?

Canteen

Canteen will commence in Week 3 and will run on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Students are welcome to purchase food and drink at recess without prior ordering. If your child would like a lunch order, you can order online or can be ordered directly at the canteen.  We must have volunteers to enable our canteen to be operational. This is particularly important with the addition of extra canteen days this year. Please consider getting involved and helping out. Your children will love it when they see you in the canteen. Week 2 Term 3

Dear Parents, Well here we go! Term Four.   I hope that you have all had happy and restful holidays.  My kids and I went to Shark Bay for the first week with my mum and dad. It was great to get out of Dunsborough and was a fun road trip. Not sure my Dad will choose to sit in the back with the kids ever again though!!! We welcome Fraya and her family to PPB this term. There will be a strong emphasis on reading and writing this term in order to prepare your children for the rigour of Year One.  Some ways that you can support your child with their learning are: Listen to your child read EVERY night. Complete the homework reading sheets that are sent home each week.  Practise 'Tricky Words'.  Read them. Write them.  If your child is reversing letters and numerals then model the correct formation for them. Use the printing chart we sent home earlier this year.   Follow up on recommendations from any speech or OT reports. Don't forget to share any further reports you get with me

Week 3 Term 3 Mission Markets

Hi Everyone, The learning in Pre Primary is really picking up pace now so remember... if you have any questions please make sure you check in with me.  English. Letter Sound Knowledge. Our focus letters for Week 3 and 4 are...      ss   ck  ll w ff.    When 2 letters join to make 1 sound it is called a digraph. The students have been taught this terminology. 'ss', 'ck', 'll' and 'ff' are all digraphs (2 letters making 1 sound). The children will be asked to read Consonant Vowel Consant (CVC)  words that use these letters and ones that they have already learned like... eg.     well   kick   fuss   sack   moss   huff    We are beginning to read sentences that use taught tricky words and regular reading words that use the sounds we have covered. eg. Jess fell off the rock. Jack will miss the bus.  Our focus Tricky Words will be...  his, her, them, there, have, of, here, with Writing: Not only are we learning to write words by saying the sounds we can hea

Week 7 Term 2

Dear Parents and Carers, I hope you had a lovely extra long weekend. I've managed to catch up with family and had a bit of forced down time. The weather has kept us pretty quiet. Please read on so you know what we are currently up to..... Literacy Last week we began our writing in gathering time. As I have previously mentioned, each student is allocated 2 mornings a week where they will experiment with writing. We encourage any writing attempt and will be available to help. We would like to see the students begin to use their letter/sound knowledge in their writing attempts along with their new 'tricky word' knowledge. It has been so exciting to see some of the students discovering some tricky words in the books they are looking at. If they are doing this at home, encourage them to write each tricky word they find and to read them back to you as often as possible. If your child can automatically recognise tricky words, this will make their reading experience a lot easier an
